This weekend, Americans will take time to remember the men and women who gave their lives in the service of our country. For 36 years Floral Haven Cemetery has been holding Memorial Day events. They kicked things off on Friday with the "Avenue of Flags."
Junior ROTC Cadets from area schools helped raise the flags.
On Saturday they're holding a ceremony honoring Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Childers. A statue will be erected for the Congressional Medal of Honor recipient.
And, this weekend you can catch a reenactment of the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
On Monday, there's a special tribute to fallen soldiers and they'll cap things off with the retiring of the colors.
