Felix Jones' draft day party had all the fixings. His festivity had friends, family, food and plenty of cameras to capture Jones cashing in on the ultimate reality TV prize: being a first round NFL Draft Pick.
"A lot of emotions. I'm nervous - I'm excited," Jones said. "This is what I've been waiting on for a long time. Now I have the opportunity to let my dream come true. We're just going to eat, have fun and watch some TV."
Jones started draft day front and center to watch his friend, fellow running back and former teammate Darren McFadden hear his name called.
"He deserves everything he gets," Jones said. "He's been taking it hard here lately but I know he's a good football player and a good person."
Just minutes after McFadden became an Oakland Raider, the party blew a fuse-- literally. With the TV in turmoil it took a little elbow grease and a lot of help from a generator to get the draft drama rolling again.
As the picks continued to pile up, Jones found refuge away from the party fishing on the pond. Hoping he would soon be the big catch for an NFL team.
More than an hour later he appeared to have a bite. With a smile on his face and friends and family anxious from TV reports, the stars were aligned for a selection from the Dallas Cowboys.
With the tension building the triumphant moment was finally a reality.
Sporting a crisp-new Cowboy hat, the coronation wasn't complete without cutting the cake.
"Once I saw my name on the screen it was like something I've dreamed of," Jones said. "I always watch the draft and just hearing my name was surreal. It's something I've been wanting all my life and I'm going to work at to the fullest."
