Heavy rains overnight caused flash flooding across the Tulsa area.
Anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of rain fell causing street flooding. At 44th and Sheridan cars splashed through the high water. 31st and Yale also flooded overnight. In fact, some Good Samaritans got soaked by helping other motorists push cars through the high water. Everyone seemed to make it through okay.
The heavy rains also caused problems at 51st and Peoria. A low road under the Interstate-44 overpass was filled with water. The Tulsa Fire Department was nearby just in case anyone got stuck.
The road at about 81st and Elwood in south Tulsa remains closed because of high water. There is no word on when it will re-open to traffic.
And over in Creek County, News On 6 WARN units caught a homeowner in as much as knee deep water shortly after midnight. The water rushed over Oak Street in front of the home causing the flooding.
As much as 3 inches of rain fell in less than a 2 hour period.
