Outrage continues to build within Oklahoma's gay and lesbian community after remarks from a state representative. There was a gathering on Tuesday at the Church of the Open Arms in Oklahoma City to denounce Representative Sally Kern.
In a posting on YouTube, the lawmaker compared homosexuality to cancer. And said the gay community is a bigger threat to the country than Islamic terrorists.
On Tuesday the group called for an apology from Kern and asked lawmakers to consider all five hate crime bills filed right now in the legislature.
"Representative Kern might have the freedom to believe whatever she wants, she has the freedom to say whatever she wants, but as a state legislator she has a responsibility to the people and her words are inappropriate and potentially dangerous," said Reverend Dr. Scott Jones with the Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ.
