A Tulsa police officer who faces federal gun running charges resigned from the TPD effective Thursday.
The resignation of Officer Buddy Visser was accepted and forwarded over to department's human resources office to be processed.
Visser has been suspended with pay since December. That was amended to a suspension without pay on Wednesday after federal firearms charges were filed against him.
The 17-year veteran worked as a firearms instructor at the department's gun range.
Federal prosecutors say Visser stole at least eight department-owned guns and several cases of ammunition and then sold them on a website.
