Live A Long Life, Bud Style

Oliver "Bud" Smart was born February 28, 1902. At the ripe age of 106, Bud amazes his nurses almost daily.

News On 6 reporter Doug Warner says this Cresent resident really is enjoying his life. 

"He likes to put his arm around you and put him arm a little lower than we'd like sometimes," said Sherri Mummey, Crescent Care Center nurse. "You dog, you."

Even Bud gets a laugh out of it because he knows what happens every morning at 10 a.m. sharp. 

Every morning, the folks at the nursing home give Bud a beer.  And yes, it's by a doctor's order as needed.  So then you wouldn't be surprised if I told you after each 12 ounce beer, Bud follows it up with a shot of whiskey. 

Evidently, Oliver "Bud" Smart has the right recipe to a long life, even if his recipe, or prescription, is filled at the liquor store instead of a pharmacy.
