An Okmulgee man received a time out after he attacked his daughter's basketball coach after a state playoff game. Jeffrey Abbott spent Thursday night in jail in Midwest City.
Police say Abbott jumped the Preston Lady Pirates head coach after the game because his daughter wasn't in the starting lineup.
Coach Mickey Duncan was grabbed by the throat and thrown to the ground.
Duncan was back on the sidelines Friday afternoon, despite a dislocated elbow. The coach had been carrying his arm in a sling before the game.
The attacker's daughter was on the court, but dad wasn't in the stands.
"We've banned him for six months from any type of school activity. They can appeal if they wish to, but right now he doesn't have any business coming to our ball games or activities," said Preston Superintendent Mark Hudson.
Abbott posted bond, and has a court date pending.
