The Tulsa River Parks Authority wants to make this year's July 4th fireworks show bigger than ever.
Thursday morning, the authority asked Tulsa County Commissioners for $25,000 to help with the show.
The authority says as many as 80,000 people attend the free show, which is usually paid for by corporate sponsors.
This year's event will be called "Tulsa FreedomFest ‘08."
The Tulsa River Parks Authority is asking the county to match the $25,000 already pledged by the city of Tulsa. The total budget for this year's event is $160,000, with half of that being for the fireworks display.
In addition to the fireworks display, authority officials say "Tulsa FreedomFest ‘08" will feature a "Parade of Flight," which will honor the 50th anniversary of the Jones-Riverside Airport in Jenks.
This year, July 4th falls on a Friday.
