Students at the Tulsa Girls Art School got the chance to shine on Monday. Mayor Kathy Taylor stopped by the school on Monday at East Admiral Blvd to check out their studio as part of a celebration for a very special painting.

The painting is the design for the Mayor's New Year's card this year. The girls participate in art shows and sell paintings. For one student, it's a whole new world.

"This would be my sixth one, my sixth painting so far. It takes a lot of time and practice to work on painting. You never thought you'd be into," said art student, Alexis Franca.
