Fire Destroys Rural Home

A rural Sand Springs family of five lost their home in an early Thursday morning fire. 

No one was home at the time the fire broke out at the home located west of town and north of U.S. Highway 412. 

Sand Springs firefighters joined Green Country Fire in battling the 8 a.m. blaze. 

Firefighters say they were hampered in their efforts to douse the fire.  There was significant loss to the 3,000 square foot home. 

The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
