Author Michael Chabon Receives Helmerich

The winner of the Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award has been announced.

The honor this year goes to best-selling and Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Michael Chabon.  He's written five novels, a novella, two collections of short stories and helped out in writing part of "Spiderman II", the movie.

He was awarded the Pulitizer Prize for Fiction in 2001 for "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay."

Chabon will be in Tulsa in December to accept his award which includes a $40,000 cash prize.
