Jim Rogers, 72, was born in Atoka County and graduated from Atoka High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Oklahoma Baptist University, a Master of Science Degree at Wyoming University and an Educational Specialist Degree from Wyoming University. He currently lives in Midwest City.
He is a retired teacher and rancher. He taught at Connors College, Eastern Oklahoma State College, Western Wyoming College, Seminole State College and Oklahoma Baptist University.
A Democrat, he ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate for Oklahoma in 2002 and 2004. He also ran for Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor in 2006 but was unsuccessful.
Political positions:
Rogers is a strong supporter of education, strengthening the family unit, and providing medical care for uninsured children. In his run for Lieutenant Governor, he stressed infrastructure improvements and strengthening Oklahoma tourism.February 4th, 2008
