Public and Tech School Funding Decided On Super Tuesday

Funding for several Oklahoma educational facilities will be decided in elections February 5.

Depew Public School patrons will decide on a $1.08 mil construction bond issue and a $305,000 transportation bond issue on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.  The construction bond will finance a new gymnasium roof and restroom renovation at the elementary and vocational agriculture buildings as well as new computers.  Depew Schools are located in Creek County.

Wes Watkins Technology Center, a vocational and technical school in Wetumka, has an annual $3 mil building levy fund to be decided.  The election will also determine whether the annual mill levies to operate the CareerTech center will be made permanent.  The vote affects McIntosh, Okfuskee and Okmulgee counties. 

The CareerTech center offers degrees in business information and data processing; construction trades; health care; and mechanic and repair technologies.  It is considered a less-than-two-year certificates school.

Green Country Tech Center's $2 mil building levy will also go before voters.  The Okmulgee educational facility offers classes on topics from saddlery and bootmaking to practical nursing and web development.

Also in Okmulgee County, Dewar Public Schools' $290,000 bond issue will go before voters.  The bond money will fund construction improvements, if the issue passes.
