The latest brand from the Camille's Sidewalk Cafe family made its debut on Monday. It's located at 111th and Memorial. If that sounds familiar, it's because they introduced another restaurant there just six months ago. The News On 6's Steve Berg reports first it was Coney Beach, now FreshBerry Yogurt has joined the growing and busy portfolio.
The aptly-named FreshBerry Yogurt is the newest idea from Beautiful Brands Inc., the parent company of Camille's Sidewalk Cafe.
"This came about, started about 18 months ago when I found this new frozen yogurt product and knew that we had to something with this," said Vice President Carolyn Archer.
Archer says the FreshBerry Yogurt has the expected low-fat, low-calorie benefits, but she says they believe they've also achieved a lighter taste.
"It really takes on the flavor of any of the toppings that you put on it, so fresh fruit, fresh berries, or candies, chocolate chips, cereals, granolas, things like that," said Archer.
Archer says their first thought was to put the yogurt on the Camille's Menu, but then they decided it could support a franchise of its own.
"So FreshBerry was born, and we developed the recipes and proprietary yogurt products," said Archer. "And here we are 18 months later on opening day."
Beautiful Brands has been in high gear during the past year with its second concept, Coney Beach, right next door and now with FreshBerry.
"With the low entry fees and the small operation, easy operation, we think this could be our biggest brand yet," said Archer.
So far, Beautiful Brands has signed agreements for 30 Coney Beach franchises. The first prospects for FreshBerry are in Nevada, and more in Tulsa. Camille's has roughly 900 new franchises in development.
