HANOI, Vietnam (AP) - Vietnam is plannig to buy a dozen Boeing 787s to meet growing demand for air travel in the booming Southeast Asian country. Parts of the 787 are to be built at former Boeing plants in Tulsa and McAlester. The two plants are now owned by Canada-based Onex Corporation and operate under the name Spirit AeroSystems.

Officials say state-owned Vietnam Airlines will buy four of the planes and a new joint venture called Vietnam Aircraft Leasing Company will buy eight.

Vietnam Airlines had already previously ordered four 787s in 2005. Boeing has more than 700 orders for the 787 so far.
