You may have big bucks coming your way. The IRS owes Oklahoma taxpayers $1 million. That's because more than 1,000 refund checks couldn't be delivered. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports on how you can find out if you’re owed money.

Emmitt Rambo of Broken Arrow and Brain Hartmuller of Owasso have something in common. Both have refunds waiting on them at the IRS. They didn't know until we told them.

Hartmuller and Rambo are among more than 1,400 Oklahomans who are owed a total of $1.1 million in refunds.

"It makes me feel good to get it,” said Emmitt Rambo.

"We'll be thrilled to get some of it back,” added Brian Hartmuller.

The IRS says refunds are sometimes undeliverable when a taxpayer changes their address without updating the postal service. Some handwritten addresses on returns also might be impossible to read.

"We want to get this money to the people. It's not the government's money, it's the taxpayers’ money and we want to get that money to them,” said David Stell with the IRS.

Taxpayers who are due a refund can go online to IRS.gov to find out what to do next. Just click on "where's my refund?"

They'll have to provide their social security number, filing status, and expected refund amount. The IRS also has a toll free refund line.

The average refund still waiting to be paid to Oklahomans is $791.

Emmitt Rambo, and Brian Hartmuller are excited and say they'll look into getting their refund soon.

"We sure do need the money to pay off some bills and things like that," said Brian Hartmuller of Owasso.

"It just happens every once in a while and I'm tickled it happened to me,” added Emmitt Rambo of Broken Arrow.

Most of the undeliverable refunds are from the 2006 tax returns, but could be from previous years.
