CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - Former Northern Iowa football player Chris Parsons has been arrested on drug charges.

Cedar Falls police say Parsons is charged with two counts of prohibited acts for obtaining the prescription narcotic hydrocodone.

Chris Parsons is accused of obtaining the painkiller at a Hy-Vee Pharmacy in October using forged prescriptions taken from a doctor's office.

Parsons, who was the Panthers' starting safety, was kicked off the team earlier this month for violating team rules.

UNI, at 10-0, is the top-ranked team in the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision.
