NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops is on the watch list for this year's Paul "Bear" Bryant coach of the year award.

Stoops is one of 16 coaches on the watch list with the winner to be announced December 12.

Stoops won the award in 2000 while leading OU to the national championship in his second year as the Sooner head coach.

Bryant Watch List in alphabetical order:

  • Michael Bellotti – University of Oregon

  • Rick Brooks – University of Kentucky

  • Lloyd Carr – University of Michigan

  • Randy Edsall – University of Connecticut

  • Dennis Erickson – Arizona State University
