The BOK Center is hoping its first booking will be a Titanic draw. Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor and arena officials announced Wednesday that Celine Dion will perform at Tulsa’s new downtown arena. News On 6 anchor Omar Villafranca reports her concert is the biggest name the arena has snagged so far.

The BOK Center is still under construction, but already the arena's first big name has agreed to perform. The Grammy winning singer will perform next November as part of her "Taking Chances World Tour." The show will take her to 45 cities around the world. She will have only one show in Oklahoma.

"They know the quality of the center. They know the quality of the community. I think they see it as a great opportunity to perform here, especially in the first year,” said Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor.

Arena officials say snagging Celine Dion's tour didn't just happen randomly. It's actually been on their radar for several months.

"Actually this started a long time ago, before the mayor even hired me. To be honest with you, we met last January when it really began," said John Bolton, the general manager at the BOK Center.

As the arena enters its final stages of construction, BOK Center officials say big name acts are taking notice of the facility.

"Other people that are routing other tours and major artists look and say, where did they route? What were the 45 dates that they picked? To be on that list I think is very, very helpful for me in trying to attract other events,” said BOK Center general manager John Bolton.

Information on tickets to the Celine Dion concert will come next week. Her show will not be the first in the BOK Center. That concert hasn’t yet been announced.
