HOT SPRING, Ark. (AP) _ The U.S. Forestry Service is urging hunters to be careful as the fall season begins.
Ouachita National Forest Supervisor Norm Wagoner says there are a lot of people in the forest now, many carrying loaded weapons. Wagoner tells hunters to be sure of what they're shooting and be courteous to others in the forest.
Officials remind hunters to follow state wildlife agency laws that pertain to the forest. Among things hunters can't do are baiting game species in the forest, shooting from or across a drivable road and possessing or consuming alcohol in areas during hunting activity.
Officials also said a new law that took effect on November 1st requires riders 18 years old and under to wear a safety helmet while operating an off-highway vehicle.
