The battle against influenza is underway. The Tulsa Health Department tested their emergency response skills on Saturday with a drive-thru flu clinic. It was held near 77th and South Lewis Avenue. The test run will be used by the health department to determine ways of improving their process of vaccinating large numbers of people as quickly as possible.

The Tulsa Health Department will also continue to offer free flu shots at various locations around Tulsa.

"Oh it's very important. The flu kills about 36,000 people every year in the United States and about 200,000 people are hospitalized for it," said the health department’s Janice Sheehan.

The Tulsa Health Department has set up a flu information line. You can call 595-4500 to find the locations of their flu shot clinics or visit their website.
