SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- A Shawnee man has pleaded guilty in connection with the death of a Prague woman. Terry Joe Hammons was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in a plea agreement with prosecutors over the February 4th death of Kathy Turnpaugh.
Kathy Turnpaugh's body was found a short distance from her home in northeastern Pottawatomie County. Investigators say she had been shot once in the head and her body was dragged and run over by a vehicle.
Her stolen pickup was found in rural Seminole County about one mile from where Hammons was arrested.
Prosecutors say Terry Joe Hammons went to a home near where he was arrested and left the rifle used to kill Turnpaugh. Her blood was on Hammons' clothing.
