MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) -- It wasn't a laser pointer. It was a gun.
An Arkansas lawyer quickly found that out when he pulled the trigger Friday inside the Baxter County Sheriff's Office. He fired a round through a wall and into a computer monitor in the next room.
A sheriff's office report says a department volunteer handed the pistol to Paul Bayless at the lawyer's request, and told him it was loaded. But the report says Bayless mistook its laser sight for a harmless toy and pulled the trigger.
No one was hurt.
The sheriff says there are no plans to charge anyone. He didn't say why the volunteer had a loaded gun in the office.
