HOUSTON (AP) -- Former Oklahoma State Cowboy John Lucas III is one of four players cut by the Houston Rockets Monday as they prepare for the NBA season opener.

Also released are guard Bob Sura and forwards Jackie Butler and Justin Reed.

The Rockets begin the season against the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night.

The 5â€™11â€ Lucas is the son of former Rocket John Lucas and played in 60 regular-season games over the past two seasons, he averaged 3.1 points a game.
