MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Vikings quarterback Kelly Holcomb was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Eagles on a sack by Juqua Thomas that slammed Holcomb's head hard against the turf and injured his neck.
The team announced his return as questionable, and backup Brooks Bollinger came out for the next series midway through the third quarter.
On third-and-9 at his own 29, Holcomb dropped back and clutched twice before Thomas hit him and brought him down. Starting for the injured Tarvaris Jackson, Holcomb writhed around in pain briefly before walking off while the Minnesota punt team came out. He sat on the bench while trainers tended to him.
Jackson broke the index finger on his throwing hand last week against the Cowboys.
