OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A long-closed hallway in the state Capitol will soon be opened as an art gallery to display an art collection of the Oklahoma Arts Council. More than 100 pieces of the council's 175-piece collection will be displayed in the new gallery, marking the first time many of the pieces have been on display in one place.
The art gallery will be in the original west hallway of the first floor of the Capitol. The hallway was closed years ago and converted into office space for the state attorney general's office.
The moving of the attorney general's office to a new building this year paved the way for opening the hallway again.
The opening of the gallery will be one of three formal openings on November 17 at the state Capitol. Also opening is a new Tourism Information Center with a theater and gift shop and Java Dave's Coffee Shop, another first for the Capitol.
All will be on the first floor of the Capitol.
