The Salvation Army is working to make sure Green Country kids have a very, merry Christmas this year. But, parents, workers need your help.
The Tulsa Salvation Army cannot help you if they do not know you need it. Workers are currently taking applications for the Angel Tree and Christmas meal programs.
The Tulsa Salvation Army is accepting applications Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Christmas Joy Center at 7201 E. 38th Street. Then again at the same times next Monday through Thursday.
In Sand Springs, the Salvation Army is taking applications November 5-7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sand Springs Salvation Army at 4403 S. 129th W. Avenue.
Sapulpa resident can register November 5-9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with evening hours of 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on November 8-9, at the Sapulpa Salvation Army at 1721 S. Hickory.
The Salvation Army makes sure families have good food for a holiday meal and there are toys under the tree. The Salvation Army says it is about the kids.
"A lot of times people come through and are afraid to ask for help. Maybe they've never had to ask for help before and this is the first time they find themselves in this type of situation," Salvation Army Public Relations Director Brad Borror said. "Christmas time is for the kids. We want to make sure kids in the City of Tulsa will have something to open Christmas Morning. It's very important."
Applicants will be interviewed by case managers and must meet eligibility requirements based on income and or present extenuating circumstances. There are some important things to bring when you register, they are:
Photo ID
Birth certificate for each child 12 and under
Social Security card for everyone in the household
Proof of address and income
Clients will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Qualified applicants will be eligible to receive one food basket for each family and gifts for children 12 and under in the household.
