RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Cam Ward stopped 19 shots and Chad LaRose scored the eventual game-winner as Carolina knocked off Vancouver 3-1.
Cam Ward improved to 5-and-0 in regulation while helping the Hurricanes deal the Canucks their first road loss of the season. He blanked the Canucks until Brendan Morrison tallied with 6:41 remaining.
Cory Stillman gave the 'Canes a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal early in the second period. LaRose made it 2-0 with 13 minutes remaining before Carolina completed its first home win against the Canucks in four tries at RBC Center.
Ray Whitney added an empty-netter after assisting on Stillman's goal. Rod Brind'Amour set up two goals as the Hurricanes snapped a two-game skid.
