NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson wants to see better blocking when the fourth-ranked Sooners run the football.
OU averaged more than 252 yards per game rushing during four nonconference games. But that average is down to just over 135 yards per game in conference play to rank sixth in the Big 12.
Wilson says OU is practicing this week on extending the blocks 20 to 30 yards downfield to help the players remember to stay with their blocks longer and to finish them.
Wilson says the way other teams are defending the Sooners the team should be more productive running the ball.
OU is 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12 going into Saturday's game at Iowa State. The Cyclones are 1-6.
