MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A federal judge sentences a former bank employee to 33 months in prison and orders her to pay nearly $350,000 in restitution for taking money from the Bank of Eufaula.
Glenda Darlene Johnson pleaded guilty in June to theft, embezzlement and misapplication by a bank employee. Glenda Darlene Johnson was accused of a scheme that included 149 separate transactions from June 1997 to early December.
U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling says a detailed bank audit confirmed the thefts.
Sheldon Sperling says among other things, Johnson removed money from certificates of deposit and savings accounts and withdrew money from individual retirement accounts.
Glenda Darlene Johnson also was accused of drawing cashier's checks from customer accounts, fraudulently issuing false interest statements and debiting customer checking accounts.
Authorities allege she used the money on home furnishings, a relative's downpayment on a house and a pickup truck.
U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling says all affected customer accounts have been corrected and restored.
