OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Transit workers in Oklahoma City have checked all city buses to make sure the wheels are tightly attached after a man was seriously injured by a wheel that flew off a bus.
Metro Transit officials say the bus had been in the shop for a brake job Tuesday night and was in operation for five-and-a-half hours Wednesday when a tandem set of wheels flew off.
One wheel hit 41-year-old Eldon Roberson as he was apparently getting out of his car. Roberson was taken to a hospital in critical condition but his condition was upgraded to serious today.
Metro Transit spokeswoman Davan Gardner says inspectors are trying to determine if the wheels weren't securely reattached to the bus after the brake job.
Police say no citations or charges have been filed.
