A Tulsa Church is in the nightmare business, and they say it's all an effort to get you to wake up. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports GUTS Church hopes their version of the haunted house will turn you into an honest believer.
The gates to hell opened on Friday and thousands are eager to get a peak inside.
“It's supper scary,†said Kennedy Sheers, Nightmare cast member. “There's demons and stuff that come at you and it's really freaky. Mainly you're going down into hell and it's just the scariest thing I've ever seen.â€
But your trip to hell isn’t all to see, the haunted house has a lot of life sills. There's a mass school shooting, more demons than you can count and lots of fake blood.
“There's a lot of boo factor to it this year,†said Nightmare Director Bryan Tyler.
GUTS Church invests months of planning and thousands of dollars to become your worst nightmare.
“One of the reasons, main reasons that we do the nightmare, is to make people aware of the world we live in, what's going on in the community and what's going on in everyday life with their kids, people they work with and know,†Tyler said.
“There's a point when it's like look, there's a price to pay for that, but then there's benefits to living your life right,†said GUTS Church Pastor Bill Sheers.
Pastor Bill says that takes guts.
“Two-hundred people gave their lives to the Lord opening night and it's going to be thousands of people that's going to happen with, people we're going to help in a dramatic way.â€
This is the 15th year for nightmare. It’s located at 4336 S. 91st E. Avenue in Tulsa. It runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday this month. The church hopes this outreach will increase memberships at churches throughout the city.
