Broken Arrow's health care is getting a big shot in the arm. A group of Oklahoma City investors have announced plans to build an 85-bed, full-service hospital and more in Broken Arrow. Those investors also plan to build a medical building, as well as adjoining retail development.
The hospital will be part of the St. John Health Care system. Broken Arrow officials say the new hospital provides a much-needed replacement for the St. Francis Hospital, which pulled most of its operation out of Broken Arrow earlier this year.
"We've almost got 100,000 people here. We need our own hospital," says city of Broken Arrow spokesperson Keith Sterling.
Plans call for the hospital and the rest of the development to begin construction in early 2008 and open in summer of 2009.
