TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Former Tulsa football coach John Cooper will be honored Saturday night when the Golden Hurricane host Conference USA rival Alabama-Birmingham.

Cooper will serve as TU's honorary coach for the game and will lead the team onto the field for the game.

Cooper coached from 1977 to 1984 at Tulsa, posting a 57-31 record and winning five Missouri Valley Conference titles in those eight seasons. In 1982, the Golden Hurricane finished 10-1.

He went on to coach at Arizona State and Ohio State.
