VALDIVIA, Chile (AP) _ Oklahoma's Courtney Paris scored one point as the U.S. beat Cuba 85-79 in the opening game of the FIBA Americas Tournament in Chile.
Paris entered the game in the first quarter in hopes of attracting extra attention inside but the U.S. wasn't able to score from the perimeter during her five minutes.
Candace Parker led the Americans with 21 points and Diana Taurasi scored 16.
The U.S. will play Jamaica Thursday.
The winner of the tournament earns a spot in next year's Beijing Olympics.
