Hundreds of Green Country residents took a stand against drugs Saturday. They particiapted in the Drug Free walk and run at LaFortune park. In Oklahoma, There are more than 200 thousand adults and 30 thousand teens struggling with substance abuse.

Palmer Continium Care hosted the walk. Palmer Continium Care is a treatment facility that's been in the Tulsa area for about a quarter of a century. It focuses on our youth and women with children, who are addicted to drugs or alcohol.

"Just about four years ago, we added a women's and children's facility which is real unique in that women with children can come and get treatment and their children can be with them," says Paula Hall-Collins, a Palmer employee.

This is the first time Palmer has hosted a walk. Employees say they wanted to do something to raise awaness about the issues people with addictions face.

They also wanted to let people know that treatment does work.

This is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.
