AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Texas football coach Mack Brown says the team knew Austin police had been questioning running back James Henry in a criminal investigation as recently as August 20th.
Brown suspended Henry indefinitely from the team Tuesday after he was charged with felony obstruction and evidence tampering.
Brown says he didn't feel he could take any action before Tuesday because no charges had been filed. He also says team officials asked Henry about the police interviews but declined to reveal what Henry said.
Henry is accused of beating up a victim of a July home invasion that allegedly involved teammates Andre Jones and Robert Joseph. Jones is suspended while Joseph left the team because of an earlier incident.
Henry told a San Antonio newspaper that it was a ``mishap'' and he's trying to figure out what's going on.
He's now free on $30,000 bond.
