Kenneth McDaniel is Oklahoma’s karaoke champion, now he’s on his way to the national finals. He says he's blessed with the ability to sing the music he loves, and as The News On 6’s Rick Wells reports, a wonderful singing voice is just one of Kenneth McDaniel's many blessings.
Kenneth McDaniel is the Regional winner in the Talent Quest national karaoke contest. To get him there a fundraiser was held last weekend to raise a little money to help with expenses on his trip to the national finals in Nevada.
"A person don't know how blessed he is until a situation like that comes up," said Oklahoma karaoke champ Kenneth McDaniel.
McDaniel says he probably wouldn't have been able to go to the finals without help, so he sang and his friends passed the hat to give him a good send off.
For him this is just one of many blessings. He's survived a severe aneurysm, a heart attack and even cancer. He says the music has helped. He likes the slow ballads he grew up with from the Stylistics, The Temptations, and the Four Tops.
"It makes you feel so good,†McDaniel said. “It's amazing how good the music makes you feel."
McDaniel says he probably would not have entered the contest in the first place if his friends hadn't pushed him, and discovering those same friends want to help him get to the top is the greatest blessing of all.
McDaniel leaves for Nevada on Saturday. The competition concludes on the following Saturday.
