LOS ANGELES (AP) _ The jury in record producer Phil Spector's murder trial ended a week of deliberations Friday without reaching a verdict.
The case was submitted to the nine-man, three-woman jury on Sept. 10 after months of testimony. They were to resume deliberations on Monday.
Spector, 67, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of actress Lana Clarkson, 40.
Clarkson was killed when a gun went off in her mouth as she sat in a chair in the foyer of Spector's Alhambra mansion early Feb. 3, 2003. She had gone home with him after meeting him at her job as a hostess at the House of Blues.
The defense contended Clarkson killed herself.
The prosecution presented five women from Spector's past who claimed he threatened them with guns when they tried to leave his presence. A chauffeur testified Spector came out of the house with a gun in hand and said, ``I think I killed somebody.''
The defense called forensic experts who concluded that Spector's white coat had far too little blood on it for him to have killed her. They also concluded from Clarkson's e-mails that she had personal and financial problems.
