Tulsa high school students break-in a new multi-million dollar facility. The Tulsa Public School District dedicated the LaFortune Stadium and Sports Complex Friday night. News On 6 anchor Jennifer Loren reports they couldn't have dedicated it on a more exciting night in Midtown.

It’s the Memorial Chargers versus the Edison Eagles, Tulsa's Midtown Classic football rivalry. LaFortune Stadium is home field to both teams, and now fans have even more to scream about, a multi-million dollar stadium and sports complex. Officials say this complex needed a facelift.

"Well the locker rooms were pretty much dilapidated, the coaches area, the officials dressing room, things just weren't up to what they needed to be," said TPS Athletic Director Stephanie Spring.

The new facilities include a new track, turf and two new buildings which include coaches offices, locker rooms, a state of the art weight room, not to mention a new ticket office. Tulsa school board members dedicated the complex just before kick off Friday night. The superintendent says the new facility say a lot for TPS.

"I think kids get excited, it shows that we care about, you know, not only academics, but sports and everything else," said Tulsa Public Schools superintendent Dr. Michael Zolkoski.

From the ever popular and expensive field turf to the state of the art weight and locker rooms, LaFortune Stadium, so far, is making fans and players proud to call it their home field.

"You know it's like they've got a new track and everything, I mean I wish we could play here all the time," said Edison football player Keyon Thompson.

"I think it's awesome, we fell like Union now," Memorial student Josh Way said.

So, no matter who wins the Midtown Classic, their home field has already earned the winning points.

TPS's athletic director says they still have plans to update facilities at McClain, Webster and Booker T. High Schools.
