TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Training exercises kick off Monday for members of Oklahoma's 45th Infantry Brigade who are participating in its largest mobilization since the Korean War.
About 2,400 members of the brigade who have received orders for duty in Iraq will conduct month long training at Camp Gruber in eastern Oklahoma, focusing on weapons qualifications and combat lifesaving techniques.
Col. Pat Scully, spokesman for the Oklahoma Army National Guard, says individual units will undergo training for four or five days at Gruber, then report to their respective armories for more training throughout the month.
The brigade already has received its mobilization orders for duty in Iraq. The mobilization is for a year and begins on October 19th, when the brigade heads to Fort Bliss in Texas.
