STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State freshman Rickie Fowler was one of two players for the U.S. squad to win a pair of matches Saturday at the Walker Cup Match in Northern Ireland.
Fowler's win helped the Americans to a 6-6 tie with Great Britain and Ireland at the match, which is being held at Royal Country Down Golf Club.
Fowler teamed with Billy Horschel, who also won both of his matches on the day, to win their alternate shot match against Lloyd Saltman and Rhys Davies, 4 and 3.
Fowler capped his day by cruising to a 5-and-4 win during his afternoon singles match against Saltman.
Former Cowboys Trip Kuehne and Jonathan Moore are also competing in the event. Kuehne teamed with Kyle Stanley during the morning action, falling 2 and 1, while Moore and partner Webb Simpson halved their match.
