Police officers across Oklahoma are spending their day on top of Krispy Kreme stores to raise money for the Special Olympics. Friday kicked off the fifth year for the Cops on Donut Shops fundraiser.

One officer at the Krispy Kreme at 71st and Mingo in Tulsa knows just how much the Special Olympics can change lives; his daughter participates in the games. He says before getting involved in the Special Olympics she was in a shell. Now, that's all changed.

"Win, lose or draw, whether they come in first or eighth, it's just the excitement on their faces is unbelievable,” said parent and Tulsa Police Officer Mark Wollmershauser. “They're so excited, you go over to give them a hug and they just can't hug you enough. And, to see that smile on their face, it's just fabulous."

Officer Wollmershauser and his daughter are getting ready to leave for China to participate in the Special Olympics World Games.
