NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ University of Oklahoma football player Ryan Broyles has been charged with attempted petit larceny in connection with an accusation that he tried to steal gasoline from a convenience store pump.

Cleveland County prosecutors filed a single misdemeanor count against the former Norman High School player Tuesday. He was arrested early Friday at a convenience store in Norman.

A police affidavit states the 19-year-old Broyles was seen at the station's gas pumps after it was closed. An officer approached Broyles and he allegedly pulled a key from the front of the pump and placed it in his pocket.

The affidavit says Broyles then attempted to hide the key under his license plate on the rear of his vehicle.

Broyles was suspended from the football team indefinitely following his arrest.
