How tough is your cell phone? Can you drop it, or dunk it, and still be able to make a call with it? A new cell phone, the GzOne from Verizon, claims it will stand up to all of that and more. The News On 6’s Rick Wells reports the phone is supposed to be tough and rugged, so with the help of some school aged kids, we thought we'd test it.
The sign says come in we're playing, which is exactly what we hoped. We brought the GzOne with us and told the kids at John Knox Child Development Center in Tulsa to have at it.
When you tell a bunch of kids it is okay to knock it around, it can take it, they do knock it around. The kids banged on the phone and dropped balls on it, and on the foosball table the normally well behaved first, second and third graders scored a goal with the phone. After that the kids tested the phone on the air hockey table. With that part of the test finished we headed back to the station and promptly dropped the phone in a sink full of water. Even under water the phone still rang.
The GzOne from Verizon probably is not for everyone, but if you are one of those folks who needs a phone that'll take more abuse maybe the GzOne is it.
