NEW YORK (AP) _ NASA will be making its images from the Apollo moon landings and many space shuttle missions available on the Internet.

The agency is partnering with the nonprofit Internet Archive to create a central, searchable Web site. The archive will spend millions of dollars consolidating images that are already in digital form and converting those that aren't.

NASA says it won't be able to digitally convert everything it has ever produced, but it will try to offer pictures of broadest interest to historians, scholars, filmmakers, students, and space enthusiasts. The site may also include printed documents, presentations, audio files and other material considered historically significant.
