OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma National Guard is buying a 7,000-square-foot mansion.

Public records show the Guard is paying $670,000 for the mansion in the northeast part of the city. The mansion is on an acre-and-a-half of land and is surrounded on three sides by National Guard property that includes training facilities.

The home was once owned by veteran character actor G.D. Spradlin who left for Hollywood after an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of Oklahoma City in the 1960s.

The mansion sits next to the National Guard's academy and training facilities. At one time, actor G.D. Spradlin lived there.
