CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) _ Butch Davis doesn't have an idea as to how his first North Carolina football team will respond when it faces James Madison this weekend.
Not too many of his players have seen a lot of game action. Of their 84 scholarship players, 59 are either freshmen or sophomores, while only 10 are seniors.
The Tar Heels have nine returning starters, the fewest of any Atlantic Coast Conference team. And those 10 scholarship seniors are the second-fewest in the league, one more than Clemson and 11 fewer than Atlantic Coast Conference leader Boston College.
North Carolina expects to have at least a dozen first-time starters against James Madison, including redshirt freshman T.J. Yates at quarterback.
