CHICAGO (AP) -- Former Oklahoma State star and Stillwater native Josh Fields may be getting a tryout in left field with the Chicago White Sox.

Fields has played third base for most of his professional career and has been filling in for injured White Sox third baseman Joe Crede.

He played left Sunday and Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen says he doubts Fields will go back to third this year unless there is an emergency.

Fields was 1-4 in the game against Boston and made an error as the Red Sox won 11-1.
