WEATHERFORD, Okla. (AP) _ The college football season begins in Oklahoma Thursday night in Weatherford. Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State renew a longtime rivalry when the two teams kick off at 7 Thursday night at Southwestern in Weatherford.
The two teams have played 77 times since 1907 but haven't played since 1996 when Southwestern moved to NCAA Division II and Northwestern remained in NAIA.
Southwestern leads the all-time series 46-24 with four ties and won the last time the two played beating Northwestern 17-7 in '96 in the NAIA national semifinals.
